Two exciting events in Rocky Mount – February 23rd and 24th!

Rocky Mount Mills is inviting the public for an evening of music, food, and fun with a special ticketed VIP experience to support the film. The day before, Friday, February 23rd, The City of Rocky Mount will be re-staging Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s first ever “I Have a Dream” speech in historic Booker T. Washington Gymnasium at 6pm.  The event is FREE but requires a ticket which can be reserved here. The recreation of this milestone event in the city’s history will be filmed for use in the documentary film about Dr. King’s visit entitled Origin of the Dream. Those attending with clothing, hairstyles, and accessories representative of the 1962 event will be given priority seating and are more likely to be featured in the film.

Reminiscent of the 1962 visit, the event will include music as well as comments from the Rev. William J. Barber II. The evening will feature an extensive selection of the recently restored audio from Dr. King’s speech set to video for all to hear and see.
